Vortex is the world’s leading real-time vehicle simulation solution – putting engineering-level motion and behaviour into virtual wheeled and tracked vehicles and synthetic environments for hundreds of commercial, military, training and research applications.
Unparalleled Vehicle and Environment Interactions
Highly realistic vehicle-operator and vehicle-environment interactions are crucial for accurate prototyping, testing, and training. Vortex puts you in the driver’s seat to create and operate high-fidelity vehicles that achieve these goals, with the right balance of speed, accuracy, and robust operation. Through rapid modeling with proven object dynamics, constraints and physical properties, Vortex vehicles realistically accelerate and brake, kick up dust, react to uneven terrain, collide with other objects, displace soil, rocks and water, roll over and more. Vortex vehicles can incorporate machinery, cable systems or tethers, and even buoyancy for amphibious applications.
Fully Stocked Vehicle Toolkit for Rapid Development
The VxVehicles module delivers flexible and reusable vehicle assembly, saving many man-months of effort over building 3D models from multi-body descriptions. Vehicles can be quickly modeled with wheels, tracks or both, advanced suspensions, industry-standard tire-terrain models, articulations, and electric or internal-combustion engines. Users quickly define drivetrain and suspension behaviour with vehicle engineering data tables, and control the vehicle through standard inputs such as steering, throttle, manual and automatic transmissions. Other dynamic components, such as trailers, turrets, weapon systems, manipulators, loader buckets, drills, and ploughs can easily be added.
Vortex Vehicles Dominate the Visual Simulation Landscape
Here are just some of the vehicles our customers have put into real motion:
- Military: Tanks and other tracked vehicles, light-armoured vehicles (LAVs), military engineering vehicles. More >>
- Heavy equipment: Mining (large trucks, excavators and extractors); Forestry (log harvesters and forwarders); Construction (bulldozers, dump trucks, backhoes, tracked, wheeled, and tower cranes, and concrete pumps). More >>
- Road: Passenger cars, light trucks, transport trucks, driving in varied road conditions (icy or gravel roads, uneven surfaces). More >>
- Off-road: Numerous vehicle types operating on varying terrain for virtual testing of equipment performance in problematic conditions (rollover, stalling, blocked or stuck). More >>
