SIMULATORS
Crawler Boom Crane
Highlights
- Interactive virtual environment with high-fidelity physics simulation
- High-resolution 3D graphics and real boom crane pedals and controls
- Real-world Load Moment Indicator (LMI) display
- 360-degree scenes and Picture in Picture-type viewport for bird’s-eye-view operation support
- Ambient sound simulation and time-of-day/time-of-year shadow-generation settings
Worksites and Scenarios
- Choice of an unobstructed new construction worksite or an obstruction-filled partially completed high-rise worksite
- Operate with a hook, clam-shell or dragline bucket
- Add an extra jib to perform advanced, long-distance multi-angle maneuvers
- Use a realistic hydraulic pile-driver to sink piles at varying angles through variable terrain, while achieving differing penetration and restitution rates
- Maneuver the boom and ball/block and swing the crane
- Pick and place a load on target (including working with chain-link target cages)
- Load and unload a flat-bed trailer, and transfer loads between flat-bed trailers
- Maneuver a load around and over obstructions
- Manipulate a bucket to simulate pouring concrete into forms, with and without obstructions
- Freefall on front and rear drum option for advanced clam-shell and dragline operations
- Learn to drive the tracked crane safely, including over uneven terrain, and to prepare it for work operations
- Train operators in emergency procedures
- Practical scenarios for Certification of Crane Operators (CCO) examinations
3D Graphics and User Environment
- Immersive 3D graphics, including sun, wind, cloud and fog controls
- A precise head-motion tracking system with automatic camera-panning to adjust the view for better depth perception
- The operator LMI includes crane boom, jib, engine RPM, and load data displays, as well as alarms for two-block, backstopper, and overload
- Real-time information about the crane simulation
- Circular level for verifying crane balance and stability
- Choice of Imperial or Metric measurement system
- Accurate generation of shadows to heighten operator perceptions
- Real crane foot pedals and hand controls to enhance training experience
- Choice of two types of levers: Two dual axis or five single axis controls with end-of-travel detent (required for pile-driving operation)
Instructor's Module
- Access to all simulator functionality, including the LMI
- Load, edit and save various training scenarios
- Override controls for swing, boom, winch, brake and throttle
- Options to stop rotation, cut sling, break cable, stop torque load, and generate constant wind or wind gusts
- Issue hand signals to operator
- Enable or disable any object in the scene or move objects
- Modify environment parameters, such as sun orientation to alter shadow patterns, and add fog and wind
- Display crane log events and track student progress with a student log
- Enable or disable sound effects
- Also useful for training worksite signalers to provide crane operators with accurate instructions and guidance
