SIMULATORS

Concrete Pump

The Vortex Concrete Pump Simulator puts students to work in a fully equipped heavy-equipment simulation featuring a high-resolution 3D building site, high-fidelity physics behaviour, actual concrete pump controls, and much more. It provides a completely interactive immersive environment to develop safe and effective concrete-pump operator skills.

Vortex Concrete Pump simulator uses an immersive dome display to place the operator inside the virtual construction site with real truck controls and real concrete placement tasks.

The World's Only Commercial Concrete Pump Simulator

Based on the Schwing 32XL and deployed in heavy-equipment training centres, the Vortex Concrete Pump Simulator provides a state-of-the-art interactive virtual environment for high-calibre operator training. With industry-leading physics simulation, actual Schwing hand controls, high-resolution 3D graphics rendering, 360-degree views, shadows, ambient sound, and an authentic control system for monitoring pump data, it immerses students in the advanced degree of realism required for effective operator training. Simulation scenarios range from balancing the truck and learning safety procedures, to pouring concrete in routine through very challenging locations, and troubleshooting concrete blockages.

Realistic Physics-driven Dynamics and Events

At the heart of the simulation, the Vortex physics engine allows students to experience and react to important physical stimuli as the pump interacts with its environment and load, like the dynamics of the operating engine and hydraulics systems, boom rotation, boom deformation under partial and full loads, and tip articulation. Since the Vortex Concrete Pump Simulator fully interacts with all objects in the 3D graphics scene, students gain valuable experience practising multiple setup, boom manipulation, and pouring scenarios, with and without obstructions. They can also encounter and react to challenging conditions such as boom snags and collisions, wind gusts, uneven terrain, and even extreme vehicle banking. The optional Instructor’s module allows trainers to specify different pumping scenarios, trigger unanticipated events, measure student progress, and more.

Accurate Truck Features and Worksite Conditions

The Vortex Concrete Pump Simulator provides trainees with valuable hands-on experience using actual concrete-pump joysticks for walk-around operation, as well as an accurate Vector Control System, which displays real-time pump-state and load data such as engine RPM, strokes per minute, hydraulic temperature, and concrete pump pressure. The simulator fully models important Schwing characteristics like its hydraulics system, the 32-metre boom, its slewing-gear-bearing turntable with 370-degree rotation, and the 245-degree articulating tip. The accurate generation of shadows and ambient noise – like the correct engine sound under various boom and pumping conditions – further heighten realism and provide important sensory cues for the trainees.
