SIMULATORS

Tower Crane

The Vortex Tower Crane Simulator provides a fully interactive environment for building key tower-crane operator skills. It immerses students in an operational crane simulation featuring highly realistic physical behaviour, actual tower crane controls, ambient sound, immersive 3D graphics, authentic construction scenarios, and much more.

Vortex Tower Crane simulator allows students to experience and react to important physical stimuli such as crane-load interactions, accurate motion, and the dynamics of the hoisting cable.

The #1 Tower Crane Simulator on the Market

Based on the top-slewing Liebherr 63LC, the Vortex Tower Crane Simulator provides a state-of-the-art interactive virtual environment. With high-fidelity physics simulation, actual crane hand controls, high-resolution 3D graphics rendering, accurate cab noises, and a real-time control panel, it ensures an effective and repeatable training experience. The Vortex Tower Crane Simulator accurately simulates important crane features such as rail-mounted or cruciform base, and slewing gear with a slipring motor. The simulation models the full physics of crane operation with three-speed hoisting gears as well as the deformation and torsion of the boom and tower under various loads. Realistic clouds, fog, shadows and wind further heighten training realism and prepare students for actual construction site conditions.

The cab from the crane simulator provides a realistic operator view as well as an LMI display.

Physics Engine Dynamics and Effects

The Vortex physics engine provides the power behind the simulation, allowing students to experience and react to important physical stimuli such as crane-load interactions, accurate motion, and the dynamics of the hoisting cable and grappler. Since the Vortex Tower Crane Simulator allows full interaction with all objects in the 3D graphics scene, trainees gain valuable experience practising multiple realistic hoisting and move scenarios, with and without obstructions. They also encounter and react to challenging real-life conditions such as object collisions, cable snags or breaks, strong wind and wind gusts. The Instructor module allows trainers to specify worksites and scenarios, trigger events, issue hand signals, measure student progress, and more.

Accurate Cab and Worksite Conditions

The Vortex Tower Crane Simulator gives trainees valuable hands-on experience using authentic tower crane controls, as well as an accurate Load Moment Indicator (LMI), which displays real-time crane-state and load data such as trolley position, load ratio, and actual versus allowed load. The simulator’s 3D rendering includes an advanced head-motion tracking system that changes the viewpoint as students stand, move and look around objects to gain better depth perception, which is critical for working with distant objects. The accurate generation of shadows and realistic ambient noise heighten realism and provide important sensory cues for the trainees.
