You work as a team, so train as a team. Unique Vortex interactive technology allows you to simultaneously train multiple workers in rigorous real-life exercises. All operations team members – machine operator, slinger/rigger and banksman/signaler – must work together to successfully complete the training.
VxTeam Highlights
Vortex classroom-based learning provides connected stations for all members to learn proper procedures, best practices and teamwork. They work together from the planning stage (toolbox talk) to operations and after-action review – while avoiding mistakes and safety violations. Instructors can trigger machine problems and load issues, monitor all workers and record/play back performances to accelerate skill- and team-building.
- Operator training: The operator works in the crane cab and is responsible for the entire team’s performance. In constant contact with them, he surveys the worksite and loads, receives signals from the banksman/signaler, gives instructions and operates real control systems, joysticks and pedals.
- Slinger/rigger training: The slinger is an essential member of the team. In the team training system he walks through the virtual worksite, erecting barriers and performing safety inspections of loads and lift gear. He must record and explain any problems he observes. He can also use taglines to help the operator land the load.
- Banksman/signaler training: Like the slinger, the banksman can walk through the site, erecting barriers and observing all work conditions. When the load is ready to be moved, his hand signals appear to the operator in the cab.
- Team review: After-action reviews are crucial for team learning. The Vortex simulator environment provides the tools for the team to review its performance. The instructor replays the exercises to analyze the team’s actions from many perspectives. He can analyze and discuss faults such as load handling, impacts, safety incidents and failure to protect fellow workers.
- Standards-based: VxTeam solutions provide a truly collaborative framework for training based on industry requirements and recommendations such as API, NORSOK, OMHEC, OSHA, UK-HSE and others.
