The versatile VxCables module provides numerous cable modeling capabilities that allow you to:
- Easily simulate objects such as cables, tethers, chains, and ropes for hoisting, towing, tethering and other purposes for real-time simulations
- Define resistance to cable deformation while stretching, bending, and applying torsion
- Set cable stiffness using parameters that are independent of the cable’s resolution
- Simulate extra-long cables with a minimum number of segments. The number of segments changes depending on the curvature of the cable
- Employ spooling using a lock velocity or a motorized control for simulating different types of spooling behaviour
- For testing purposes, break cables at a system-defined location or at a specific position
- Make a cable collide with its environment. For collision detection purposes, define each segment of the cable as a cylinder or capsule
- Employ automatic level of detail (LOD) management for automatic merging or subdividing of cable segments as cable curvature changes
- Manage spooling of cables. Two types of spooling are available – lock velocity-based spooling and motor velocity spooling
- Transform the entire cable by moving it to a new position and orientation
- Set the cable to interact with a specified fluid and establish the cable’s buoyancy
